## How to check for Legionella using the Water Temp dashboard

This guide explains how to use the Water Temp dashboard to verify that hot water outlets are meeting the HTM 04-01 requirement of reaching 55°C. The dashboard updates automatically throughout the day — no date selection is needed. Simply open it and check the live trend for today.

### What you are looking at

The dashboard displays water temperature over time, recorded by the Quandify CubicMeter sensor fitted to the pipe. It is labelled HTM 04-01 Compliance and shows whether hot water at each outlet is reaching the required temperature.

### Checking an outlet

#### Step 1 - Select the outlet you want to check

Use the Filter by resource dropdown at the top right of the dashboard. Choose the outlet or location you want to review (for example, Kitchen or a specific ward outlet). The dashboard will immediately show today’s live temperature trend for that outlet.

#### Step 2 -  Run the hot tap for 1–2 minutes then turn it off

At the outlet, turn the hot tap on fully and let it run for 1 to 2 minutes, then turn it off. This draws hot water through the pipe past the sensor and gives a meaningful temperature reading. Without this draw-off, the sensor may only reflect the standing pipe temperature rather than the actual hot water supply.

#### Step 3 - Wait for the next reading and check the chart

The sensor reports the maximum temperature recorded every 10 minutes. After running the tap, wait for the next data point to appear on the chart. Each point on the cyan line shows the highest temperature captured during that window. If it reaches or exceeds the pink dashed 55°C line and shows a green dot, the outlet has passed.

#### Step 4 - Identify any failures

If the temperature line does not reach the pink dashed line after the draw-off, that outlet has not met the HTM 04-01 requirement for that reading. Note the time and outlet name and escalate as per your site procedure.

#### Step 5 - Repeat for other outlets

Use the Filter by resource dropdown to switch to the next outlet and repeat the check. Work through all outlets that are part of your Legionella monitoring schedule.

It confirms that hot water reached temperature with meaningful flow through the pipe. It does not verify the HTM 04-01 criterion of water reaching 55°C within 1 minute at the tap outlet. Where that specific test is required, a contact probe check at the tap is needed in addition.</p></td></tr></tbody></table>
